Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Sammie moved to Vancouver after graduating from the Coast Academy of Dance’s premier year of its ‘Pre-Professional Program’ to pursue a career in dance. She started by training at Harbour Dance, as part of their ‘Intensive Training Program’, which allowed her to both further her training in all styles of dance, and familiarize herself with the Vancouver dance scene. She then continued on to dance with a company based out of Vancouver called ‘The Source Dance Company’, working with amazing choreographers from all over the world and performing throughout BC and the US, which also lead her to tour across Canada as an assistant for Street Groove and GSP Conventions.
Continuing on with her career in dance, Sammie has since further explored the industry by adding acting and singing to her already extensive list of performance skills. This has allowed her to work consistently, performing both on stage and in television and film. Most recently she has joined Vancouver’s newest all female dance ensemble – ‘La Chaleur’, directed and created by Stephanie Sy, and has also been casted in one of Vancouver’s newest Contemporary companies – ‘Exult Dance Company’, which is producing it’s first first full length show created and directed by Danielle Demi, that will take place in the fall/winter season of 2012.
Sammie currently spends her time performing, instructing and choreographing in Vancouver. Her dynamic and challenging choreography, combining both athleticism and style keeps her in high demand. She has been fortunate to instruct at numerous locations throughout B.C., and as she is always looking to create new challenges and opportunities for herself, she is also the director of her own annual ‘Summer Wake-Up Workshop’, which takes place in Sechelt, BC on the beautiful Sunshine Coast each summer, providing dance classes to kids and adults of all ages.
