Samantha Presley

Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre

Samantha is a dynamic performer, instructor, and artist. As a Bachelor of Fine Arts holder majoring in Dance, Samantha has studied contemporary, ballet, and various modern dance techniques extensively at Simon Frasers School for the Contemporary Arts. While completing her degree, she had the pleasure of performing works by locally and internationally acclaimed choreographers. Samantha’s training background also includes years of competitive dance in jazz, hip hop, lyrical and musical theatre styles. She is also fortunate to be the recipient of scholarships from SFU and The Lovers Cabaret. All of these experiences together have supported Samantha in performing work professionally for diverse Vancouver based companies and artists including The Lovers Cabaret, Jenn Edwards, CollabArt Creations, Jen Aoki, and Heather Laura Gray. Passionate about producing her own work as well, Samantha premiered her first full length show in 2016 entitled “Playful Parameters”. She remounted it later that year for the SFU FCAT conference where she also gave a talk on her process of creating dances that are inspired by the movement patterns and unique behaviors of young children. Above all, Samantha is eager to continue inspiring others through movement while acting as a role model for her students. She hopes to continue sharing her love for health and fitness as well as personal growth and confidence. Samantha is excited for all of her upcoming dance endeavours including becoming part of the SHIFT team!
