Larissa has an extensive and impressive history in ballet as both a dancer and educator! For the past 3 years, Larissa has been teaching at the Vancouver Junior Professional Division, a premiere ballet junior training institute located in North Vancouver. Prior to working at VJPD, Larissa achieved great success as a ballerina herself. Larissa spent 2 years dancing with the Kirov Ballet, where she was chosen to star in the famous European dance film “We Looked Death in the Face.” Following the film, Larissa returned to Estonia to join the State Academic Opera & Ballet Theatre, where she quickly became prima ballerina. She performed as a principal dancer with the company from 1978-1986, touring extensively throughout Europe. In 1980, Larissa received the female gold medal and first prize at the Competition for Young Ballet Artists in Minsk, Belarus. Larissa then went on to accept a faculty position at the Tallinn State Choreographic School where she became ballet mistress, choreographer and repiteur from 1986-1991.In 2000, Larissa and her family moved to Canada. Since then she has been a sought after instructor, recognized for her expertise and dedication to the art of Ballet.
